The last few weeks have been so eventful, exciting, nerve wracking, and uncertain that I have once again fallen prone to neglecting my blog. But I think my readers will forgive me for taking some time off to get settled in my new apartment and D.C. and get oriented and accustomed to my new occupation as a law student at George Washington University Law.
With a little over a week having passed since that first harrowing day of my legal career, I feel things are finally settling down and I'm feeling much more comfortable and at least somewhat normal in my new life.
But enough with the generalities. Law School is unique in that it's one of the few endeavors that at least somewhat lives up to the supposed stereotypes you might see in the movies. At least the first few days make the nubile law student feel like a sorry pawn being manipulated by some director for dramatic effect.
They weren't kidding about that whole Socratic Method either. Some law professors seem to find it mostly entertaining and perhaps mildly instructive to call on anxious law students with cryptic questions that demand prompt answers in front of 100 of their peers. While such a method may be preparing us for the stress of the real world, I have found that this technique's only practical purpose thus far is to motivate students to read diligently for fear of suffering catastrophic embarrassment before a room of strangers.
Anyway, things are getting better and I'm beginning to feel more comfortable and actually enjoy my time in class.
Of course, then there's the weekends. I think I may have forgotten just how recreationally and socially limiting Davidson can be. The weekend night's here are awesome, although they can take quite a toll on the check card if you're not careful. I'm still exploring and finding new places to hang out, eat, and drink. I live only a few blocks south of Adam's Morgan, the city's party center. I'm actually not a huge fan of the Adam's Morgan area; beyond college partyers, it really is most appropriate for hardcore bacchanalia of the sort that us adults try not to slip into quite so often.......right.
Being in Washington, it is easy to keep up to date on the news and politics. But these days, I've been most concerned with my wilting fantasy baseball team. But alas, football season is only a week away, and my fantasy football draft will take place next Wednesday. This very well could be the biggest event of the fall, well, besides Madden of course. Speaking of Madden, instead of becoming more adult-like and perhaps dispensing with my addiction, I found myself at EB Games at midnight on the night of the release. Unfortunately, I still suck terribly at the game for it has become quite the challenge even for us Madden enthusiasts.
Much more consistent updating is forthcoming. I'll do my best.
Hahh! Bacchanalia?? No way!! I can't imagine what you would have done to me if I tried to pull that.
And nubile law students? Where are you seeing those? It seems like almost all the girls here are already married.
Jeez, maybe I should update my blog so you have a fair shot at trashing me. Hope you're doing well, and loving the hell out of Civ Pro.

I know I'm not in the best position to voice this concern, but Zach, GW can't be THAT hard -- where're the updates??
Don't let it die!
