Terrell Owens' season is officially over. The Eagles suspended him for four games, and after that he will be deactivated or cut. I would guess that the Eagles will give him the Keyshuan Johnson treatment that the Bucs doled out two years ago. That is, he'll get paid, but won't be released until after the season ends.
It's hard to figure out exactly what is wrong with TO's head. Clearly, he has some pretty serious social problems. But I wouldn't say he is dumb. He's written a book (not that that means anything) and he's generally pretty coherent in interviews and press conferences.
As a football fan, I'm sad that such talent is being truly wasted. TO really is the best receiver in the NFL, and one of the best of my lifetime. It's sad not to see him on the field, doing what he does best. As a Giants fan, i'm kind of happy though. Philly fans get what they deserve. Everyone warned them about TO, but they reveled in his stardom last year. But only one year removed from his public spat with the Ravens, TO stayed true to form and stirred things up in the '05 off-season. Things quieted down but apparently the TO saga culminated in a fight with his teammates late last week. The rest is history. TO is done for the year, and the Eagles probably are too.
Go Giants!
